Clara is a young Quechua midwife who sings to ease the pain of pregnant women. Influenced by a friend, she decides to leave the village and move to the city. The community is struck by mysterious deaths among animals and crops, and the villagers attribute this misfortune to Clara's departure. Her mother decides to travel to the city and begin a search to bring her back.
