The 1990s were a pivotal period for Swedish melodic death metal, as the scene was still taking shape and the sound was evolving. Three bands that helped define the era are now returning for 30th-anniversary concerts: Gates of Ishtar, A Canorous Quintet, and Ablaze My Sorrow. Together, they represent a time when melody and aggression took shape side by side – echoes of which are still heard today.
