A tram conductor around 1900 stood ramrod straight in a strict, dark uniform with shiny buttons and a high collar. Today you are greeted by a customer host in soft, functional workwear. In this talk we travel through the history of uniforms alongside the history of fashion: how hemlines, cuts, colors and materials have reflected the ideals of their time, from horse-drawn trams to today.
